Plate Magnet
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets are made of Permanent Rare Earth (Neodymium), Samarium, or Ceramic; and are designed for effective removal of ferrous contaminants, in the aim of controlling metal fragments in products.
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets are manufacture with heavy duty latches, hinges, and handle for easy installation and maintenance. They are made of food grade 100% stainless steel enclosed housing; of which the magnetized plates inside are such to trap unwanted ferrous metal during the stream flow.
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets can be easily installed with limited maintenance, except the regular cleaning of captured ferrous metal; and are, not only versatile, but also cost-effective. Ideal for removing occasional tramp ferrous metal from conveyed or gravity-fed products flows.
BJ Magnets’ Plate Magnets are designed for use in chutes and suspension over conveyed product. Installed on the bottom side of a chute, our Double Plate Magnets provide maximum protection as product travels through the powerful magnetic circuit. The magnetic field projects from the face of the Plate Magnet reaching into the product stream and pulling the ferrous contaminants to the magnet face.

PRODUCTS
Plate Magnets consist of a hinged plate attached to a housing. This allows for simple installation by removing a section of the spouting and replacing with the angled Spout Magnet. This is especially helpful when installing this type of separator in flat or a round spout.
APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS
Double Plate Magnets or Spout Magnet can be provided with a round inlet and outlet openings of which transition to the rectangular flows through areas where the plate magnet is attached. The Plate magnet is hinged, latched, and gasketed for easy access and cleaning. The Chute Magnet or Spout Magnet is engineered to remove fine to large ferrous contaminants from high volume gravity fed product streams.

Plate Magnets are manufactured in an encased food grade stainless steel with options of 4000, or 6000 to 7000 Gauss on the contact surface or higher strength of 8000 to 10000 Gauss on the contact surface; hence depending on the type of products or the performance expectancy requirements. Installed in the base of an inclined gravity feed chute for an efficient extraction of ferrous metals from powder or granular materials; a Plate Magnet is usually fitted on a conveyor belt before a chute-feeder.
To prevent captured ferrous contaminants from being washed off from incoming product, a trap face design should be chosen. A trap face is a tapered step on the magnets working surface. This trap is placed at a position such that magnetic fields that cause captured ferrous contaminants are drawn to the underside of the trap where they are safely held on to, preventing wash off from oncoming product. It is also important to note that the magnetic area of a Plate Magnet should cover the entire width of the spout it is protecting.
Designed to the client’s requirements, the unit is manufactured to fit the existing lines and can be supplied with relevant mountings for an easy installation. It is however important to know the suspension height of the magnet face relatively to the bottom of the material burden. This information helps in the proper selection of magnet strength. Plate Magnets can be made in various strengths to optimize performance in various depth product streams. The shallower the product stream, the better the separation results will be. Heavy duty factory fabricated hinges, handle, and locking latches are provided for simple installation and maintenance. With an easy access for the regular cleaning; the magnet is manufactured in respect of the principles of the HACCP standards.

All our Magnetic Separator Equipment are designed, manufactured and supplied under observation of the principles of the HACCP International Food Safety Standard 0909MAGSEP 1-2010. Moreso, to the bargain of their effectiveness, the internal and external aspect of the magnetic equipment is produced according to the food health and safety standard in terms of the building materials; which is austenitic stainless steel of grade 304 or 316. Thereof upon completion, a certificate of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) which is valid for 12 months is issued; in which case the equipment shall not be subjected to the anual validation.
